This massive 85-inch LED TV brings Crystal UHD 4K resolution to your living room, delivering incredibly detailed images with a sharp 3840 x 2160 pixel display. The Crystal 4K processor enhances everything you watch with vibrant colours while supporting HDR10+ for impressive contrast. With an 85Hz refresh rate, you'll enjoy smoother motion whether you're watching sports or gaming on this gaming-ready screen.

The Tizen operating system makes streaming simple, and you can control everything using voice commands with hands-free Alexa support. Connect wirelessly via Wi-Fi 5 or Bluetooth 5.3, or use the multiple ports including 3 HDMI inputs. Backed by a 1-year warranty. Model UA85U8500FWXXY. I have this TV. It's nice and big and looks good. Obviously it's no OLED, but no complaints here. @Zythyx I just had a look in JB and came to this consensus too.

Looks a good TV, but some of the QLEDs for comparable price in 75" also look amazing! I have searched the internet with model number. I cannot find these savage reviews? Saw this in store. Its not as bad as you'd think given the size and money. That Q7F 98 inch that was on special a while back looked worse. They are rubbish! Got money back for one that failed within a month. Bought a house that had one, screen was broken as well.

a broken one in a house u bought, is a neg. on this product or on samsung? not sure on that… @blorx: I think Sony uses Samsung panels but I'd still choose Sony. We have both and Sammie's Tizen OS is slow, responsiveness using Chrome is laggy too. Pic quality and sound quality is also meh. @Insane22: I have a 17 year old Panasonic 42" Plasma still going in my bedroom… it has outlived 2 in the living room!

Bought one of the last Panasonic OLEDs as Covid hit. fantastic TV, still going strong. Only problem is the lack of apps, they just stopped SBS on demand, but Google stick fixed that. @omblygombly: I have the EX750 which I believe was the last TV ever sold with 3D capability. Nine years old, still going strong. I had bought a Samsung 82" LED in 2021 from JB Hi-fi. Despite of ACL being a thing, I opted to purchase extended warranty (good that I did).

Within one week of purchasing the TV, it started acting up. Turns off on it own while watching. Turns On by itself during the night and a clicking sound as it heats up after it is turned On. Raised the issue with JB, they sent Samsung support. Samsung support person fixes the on/off issue with a firmware update but confirms the backlight has a hardware issue. "Major issue" were his exact words out of his mouth.

My mistake that I didn't record the conversation in a video. Tech goes back, by the time I get paperwork from Samsung, the issue becomes "Minor" which gives Samsung the right to repair rather than replace. The fix: replace the whole 82" LED screen. I questioned how is this a minor issue? Asked for a replacement instead. They said No and literally walked away, completely ghosted me. Raised ticket with JB again, Samsung declined to come to the table.

Eventually JB Hi-fi agreed to return the TV and offer a replacement LG with price difference. Had to pay $900 on top for the price difference between LG and Samsung but good thing that I had originally paid JB Hi-fi for delivery and wall mounting so that was covered for free. (profanity) Samsung and (profanity) ACCC as well. Samsung is well known to be the biggest flout of ACL and consumer rights.

They regularly appear as one of the top most businesses who have the highest number of consumer complaints and yet ACCA has not performed any meaningful enforcement actions against them. Why is this so bad? 85 inch 4k tv sounds amazing. Weird warranty is only 1 year for it though. Checking the choice reviews it seems the only significant upgrade to look for in a TV is to make sure it's OLED, otherwise it's small changes (besides the super bad ones).

If someone isn't prepared to pay OLED prices, would you agree the above is true? Exactly my thoughts, and very reasonable comment in terms of how brands market their cheap TVs. Yet you get downvoted. That's OzBargain. Many people don't care much about quality between panels and just want the biggest for the best price, that's who this panel is marketed at. What's the issue? What's elitist about wanting to pay more for quality here if that's what you're into?

Same goes with any consumer item. @FXx: Yeah mate. These negative nellies seem to just vote down without thinking. I wasn't being toxic. I was merely suggesting these TV's are designed for people who have no clue about all the latest tech and wouldn't even be able to distinguish which has better picture. designed for people who have no clue about all the latest tech and wouldn't even be able to distinguish which has better picture.

you assume people wouldnt be able to tell with side by side comparisons. They can. Its just impossible to do online and they conveniently never place these side by side in stores. So its a scam in the way they sell these things "design for people who have no clue" implies the manufacturers are intentionally selling dogwater to those who dont know better. Thats ok? these people deserve it? if you had worded it better such as, these products have their place for people who have different priorities or know what they are getting.

then it wouldnt have been so toxic @furythree: If that's what you think, whatever, I don't give a crap, because I believe there are people who either don't care or don't notice things like blooming, dirty screen effect and would rather just pay a lot less for a big TV they can just watch. If as you say, it's only noticeable when they are side by side, you already have your answer LOL if you had worded it better such as, these products have their place for people who have different priorities or know what they are getting.

then it wouldnt have been so toxic What's elitist about wanting to pay more for quality here if that's what you're into? @furythree: Perhaps it's your problem? Deceptive? these TV's are priced accordingly for people who couldn't care less about paying extra $2-3k for stuff they wouldn't even recognise. its deceptive because they know people will look at price and not understand all the features and specs.

So end up buying something that appears affordable and not get the optimal experience The very type of person who falls for this is the type who doesnt know better. I would consider them vulnerable consumers. its been like this for all tech since the dawn of time. Nothing new. Doesnt make it acceptable. @furythree: lol they list out all the specs and features on the website and you can find it everywhere on the internet.

how's that deceptive? you are insane buddy. what makes you think this isn't a decent product? LOL this TV will be perfectly fine for average people. People even buy cheap no name brand TV's and get by perfectly so it's ludicrous for you to say this TV is not "decent". i dont? that wasnt what you implied at the start with your snark around people getting what they deserve @furythree: You understood it as snark.

Thats your problem and your twisted view of the world sad man. You are f'ing hilarious. People who don't understand specs and/or know what's better won't consider spending extra $1-2k on "better alternatives". Some people just want a TV that functions and is big enough for what they need it for and most importantly, at a price that they are willing to pay. What's so hard to understand? You sound like someone who would get upset at people buying a MG when there are "better alternatives" for more money.

A product being cheap and crap is no more deceptive than most of Kmart as a store existing. It isn't exactly new for tech either. Did you just discover in the last few days that sometimes a cheap product isn't very good? Going out on a limb here and say, with them being on OzBargain, they also have access to the internet but I am happy to be corrected on that front. you need to consider the lowest common denominator here.

Not every person, not even ozbargainer is as tech literate as you think. i used to automatically assume people savvy enough to find an obscure bargain site (obscure back in the day at least) meant theyre at least tech literate and/or savvy enough to do research. But youd be surprised. Some people are just after bargains to save money, and arent chronically online where researching every aspect of every tech is second nature there are also those who may understand a bit of everything, but as you would know, especially with bloody tvs and marketing in general, theyve made it increasingly hard to research and compare differences even if you go looking for it.

i.e. Samsung switching up naming conventions with bullshit marketing labels like Qled AI Neo Qled or watever buzzword they want to use, then switching up the fact that they used to mean full array LED that uses edge-lit or direct-lit LED technology vs newer Full Array Local Dimming but all with similar/same naming conventions. Or intel using the Core ultra 5 7 9, but the 9s are just old i7 level cpus.

How would the average consumer even know to look that up in the first place without knowing to look for it? The consumer review sites are padded with wordcount drivel these days and you have to sit through 10 minute sponsor riddled tech videos to get a broad understanding and even then they just read off a spec sheeting without explaining nuances this is where my main point is that its quicker and more useful to explain why via a community comment section, like literally the top comment in this node.

i used to automatically assume people savvy enough to find an obscure bargain site (obscure back in the day at least) meant theyre at least tech literate and/or savvy enough to do research. But youd be surprised Clearly. What's even more surprising is how some people will defend this level of willful ignorance 🤦‍♂️ LOL you got all of that from what I wrote? Do you write novels for a living because you would be really good at it.

You should heed your own advice and go back to school to brush up your reading comprehension skill. For something you are not affected by, you seem to be getting your knickers in a twist huh? its deceptive because they know people will look at price and not understand all the features and specs. So end up buying something that appears affordable and not get the optimal experience Affordable and optimal experience.

What would that be? Proudcts are sold at a price for a reason. This is a 85" TV from a well known brand for $1400. Did you expect it to be a top reviewing product? Affordable and optimal experience. What would that be? Proudcts are sold at a price for a reason. This is a 85" TV from a well known brand for $1400. Did you expect it to be a top reviewing product? but no where throughout this entire days worth of comments you continue to double down on your point, yet somehow trying to be defensive like you're not acting like youre better than everyone who doesnt do research.

It took you until this long to come barely close to a useful comment all i am saying is, if you truly didnt want to sound elitist, it wouldve taken less words to say that this was a poor buy. "from a well known brand" is a completely meaningless statement. For someone whos apparently well versed in tvs you should have known that i would sooner buy a kogan (that ironically uses a samsung panel) than buy this.

At least it would offer better backlighting technology for the same/comparible price. people dont upgrade their tvs that often like they do with phones. So its important they get it right as close as possible the first time or else theyre stuck with something horrible for a long time There are plenty of alternatives for the same price. Better value for money for a few hundred more and also better alternatives if one doesnt only focus on price and size (you and your buddies almost got to making that point there before driveling onto dunking others instead) you can literally look around the other more useful comments by others in this comment section that are providing warnings to ozbargainers that explain things and provide suggestions.

Note that they didnt just say people "deserve" this for being less informed Look, you really should try a little better at reading. Slow down a little and comprehend what they're saying. They never implied this at all @furythree: Elitist much? The only thing better than a Karen is a hypocrite Karen. its objectively bad coffee. Dont buy it, save your money. just said it with less words I didnt say "buy this coffee, you get what you deserve" like you would if anything im suggesting just dont buy it cause its dishwater.

Anyone reading it would understand not to waste their money Meanwhile What did you do in this thread? Someone should just blow 1400 on an obselete LED backlit tv cause its what they deserve i guess? if anything im suggesting just dont buy it cause its dishwater. Anyone reading it would understand not to waste their money So you think everyone's tastebuds and tolerance level for different quality of coffee is the same?

Just because you think it tastes like dishwater (wtf does that mean anyway? You drink dishwater? lol), it will be the same for everyone? Such arrogance. Plenty of people drink instant coffee too you know? There's your problem. Just because you think something is terrible or doesn't suit your needs, you think that applies to everyone just like this TV. Someone should just blow 1400 on an obselete LED backlit tv cause its what they deserve i guess?

What do you suggest then for 1400 and someone wanting 85 inch? Please enlighten us. Plenty of people seem to like the deal given it has 75 upvotes. Guess it's not enough for an elitist like you? I never denied i said those things. Are you dense? It's right there in the comments. What's funny is that another person who commented understood what I meant perfectly fine but you, obviously lacking basic comprehension skill, couldn't and decided to make a fool out of yourself.

Jog on "buddy", "champ", As long as you are aware that it is an entry-level LED TV that uses edge-lit or direct-lit LED technology rather than the superior backlight structure in Full Array Local Dimming (FALD) TV. You’d want to look at Samsung's QLED or Neo QLED lines for FALD. First was a 55 inch around 2010. The EPG is terrible and it has no smart features, but it is hooked up to a foxtel box and still gets a lot of use today.

The 2nd was a 65 inch around 2014, when Samsung had their own apps (just before google smart. The EPG had not been updated, most apps stopped working after a year or 2, there was a persistent white spot on the right hand margin and at the 6 ir 7 year mark, it lost sound and I threw it out. It would be okay if TCL did not exist, similar to Chinese car brand manufacturers taking on established Japanese and Korean brands with more features for less.

One year warranty is not definitive with Samsung products – I have had a soundbar repaired for free out of warranty plus additional discount given for future purchase with Samsung support. It would pay to do a little research before jumping in and buying ANY TV. I'm not sure how much you value a quality picture, but most people in forums – I suggest Whirpool – will give you a lot of guidance. To compare to cars, it's like if MG or any of the other chinese car companies say their cars are "as big as a BMW X7" and then you're thinking wow why would i ever get an X7.

Yeah I'm aware there's more than size however nobody has said why this TV in particular is getting smashed by reviews. Don't worry to much about a one year warranty, consumer rights should give you at least 5 years if anything goes wrong. Not sure why all the bad comments. I got a 55" Samsung Crystal UHD LCD over 6 years ago, and it still works perfectly after daily use for 6 years. Does 4K flawlessly, colors and contrast are good, all apps work smoothly, works perfectly with PC.

I even use it for PC gaming. 100Hz is good enough for that. Unless the base models have gone downhill since then, this LED should be better than mine. No issues with my Samsung TV from around 2020, working great. Happy with picture & sound, haven't needed to get a soundbar yet I mean, if the crappy tinny speakers inside the TV are good enough for you, power to you, but you're missing a lot. Second that, once I plugged 3.1.3 for my 5 x 5 living room, sound just came alive.

Can't even imagine that horrible bass less sound from those 20w tiny tv speakers. Forget the haters. I have had a 86" lg that was about $1k3 for a couple years. Not the best panel but who cares when it is the size of a wall. It's amusing visiting other people's houses with expensive smaller screens. It's like sure it's nice but where is the rest of it? esp something from several years ago. i own one from each of the brands and even as a samsung fanboy i think their tvs suck.

theres nothing good about them thats worth defending, except their higher end ones, but even then theyre riddled with software compromises or for the price you can get similar or better Samsung customer service was the most enjoyable experience of my life to deal with — a masterclass in patience, resilience, and personal growth. LOL.. I can relate. Luckily for me, the samsung frame I bought shat itself within 2 months so I could deal directly with JB hi-fi.

Samsung flat out refused to replace it and offered to repair. I will never buy anything from this company again. Edit – I returned the Frame TV and bought a TCL C8Q after reading comments on this forum. Same, but with Samsung phones, twice! Wasted so much time and got nowhere. Now staying with iPhones for good. The last time I dealt with them was 2016. Surprisingly they sent out a tech to fix the issue with my TV straight away even though it was out of warranty, and then when the issue returned a few months later, they outright replaced the TV with their newer top range model of the same size which was worth 3x the price of the one it replaced.

Reading the comments it seems I may have had a unique experience or things have changed…The replacement is still going strong to this day. Worth getting the gold support thing – my AU8000 75" LEDs blew after 3 or 4 years, soon as I started using 4k devices! Attempted a fix (replace them) but damaged the screen removing it. Bugger 🙁 Not a lot of confidence in Samsung now, they should last a lot longer (suspect it overheated with 4k devices).

Samsung makes the best OLED. If you want an LED. TCL or Hisense. Sony‘s are not too bad, but they are expensive. I have a long running chat with ChatGPT to get a new TV after my recent cheap Aldi TV purchase was a complete fail. If anyone finds the useful or interesting I figured I would throw this in here: “Wow, it’s huge” for about one week then: “Why does everything look flat and grey?” Theres a fair bit of history going back and forth working out exactly what I need – so it really understands what I'm after.

FYI if you have Samsung EPP then you can get it for $1374.45 but they have a $100 trade in offer for any old tv which brings it down to $1274.45 delivered.
