Apple Fitness+ may be facing big changes, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The workout subscription service is currently “under review,” and its future is still uncertain. Several options are reportedly being considered, with major changes possible – though nothing is confirmed yet.
Currently, Fitness+ exists within the Fitness app, separate from Apple Health, although some fitness data can be viewed there. Gurman suggests that Apple may merge the two apps into a single subscription service, simplifying fitness and health tracking for users.
Apple had also planned a separate AI-powered health coach that would analyze fitness data and provide personalized advice. Gurman reports that Apple may instead integrate these AI features directly into the Health app, including capabilities like analyzing a user’s gait using the iPhone camera. These features are expected to roll out later this year.
Merging Fitness+ and Health could make Apple’s ecosystem simpler and easier to use. However, it may also make the Health app more complex, as it already manages workouts, cycle tracking, mental wellbeing, and sleep data. Users might also face higher subscription costs if all features are bundled together.
Even Gurman notes that “there’s no telling what will end up happening,” leaving room for Apple to adjust its plans. Users can expect more clarity later this year.
